I have used these before on a 2nd floor. Really was looking for something to put tile on rather than a mortar base. These are great, east to cut, easy to put down fabric and then tile using unmodified thinset. It's been several years and still looks good, water drains well.

I have extensive building trade skills so installing the AC unit was quite simple for me to tackle myself. I had to have a branch 220v electrical panel added to service the unit. The only problem I had was finding a HVAC contractor to test the unit for leaks prior to firing it up. I installed a WarmWire heated floor in a 6'x8' coat room that had no other source of heat. It is on a concrete slab with 2 outside walls and a wall to an unheated attached garage. I glued 2 6mm thick sheets of Cerazorb synthetic cork directly on the concrete. It was super easy to lay the wire on top on the cork using the metal clip system provided. To be safe, I laid a sheet of 1/4" luan plywood on top of the wires while laying the tile. I checked the resistance in the wires at each step... more
